Chelsea bounced back from their Champions League heartbreak by securing third place in the Barclays Premier League following a 4-1 victory at Arsenal. The Blues are now guaranteed automatic entry to Europe’s elite club competition once again next season. It also ended Arsenal’s 21-match top-flight run.
Chelsea have won four and drawn one of their last five league meetings with Rovers and have gone five games without losing to them on home soil. Blackburn’s 2-0 win over Portsmouth last Saturday was enough to secure their Barclays Premier League safety so they will now turn their attention to trying to record their first win at Stamford Bridge since their 2-1 success in March 2003. In the five visits following that victory, Rovers have drawn two and lost three, conceding 13 goals. Boss Sam Allardyce will be aiming to improve their poor away form where they have been beaten in their last four away games.
